WILKIN and Son's seventh ever family-friendly Little Scarlet Music Festival saw dozens of people turn out.

The sold-out event, which is named after the variety of strawberry unique to the Wilkin Estate at Tiptree, was opened by drama group KYDS who sang songs from Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat.

The event’s headline act was Ska Town Syndicate with Ecto Peach, The Other Party, JamJar, East Creek Union, Mr B & The Wolf also performing on the stage which was made from Tiptree lorries.

In between band performances, festival visitors were encouraged to sing in the ‘Busk Stop’ tent, with henna, hula hooping and craft stalls also being available.

While for children, there was an area to race against friends or to design and create sunglasses.

Essex brewery Datum Attitude Brewing Co also brewed their “Send more Jam” strawberry beer again for the event, which uses berries from the Tiptree farm.

This year the proceeds of all tickets sold will be donated to the Tiptree Community Hub based on Station Road.

Event organiser Jeanette Lynes said: “Each year it just gets better and better and, personally, it is such a pleasure to play a part in putting so many smiles on so many faces, young and old, as well as raising money for a deserving local cause.”
