RESIDENTS in a part of Colchester were out in full force as their annual fun day kicked off, with entertainment for the whole family.
St Anne’s Community Hall Association’s annual fun day was sponsored by Colchester Borough Homes and part funded by councillors Paul Smith, Natalie Sommers and Catherine Spindler through their locality budgets.
There was a mechanical rodeo bull, bouncy castle, face painting, axe throwing and ice creams, which were all free for children.
There was also a barbecue manned by the Rotary Club, and cakes.
The Essex Uniform Exchange made some clothing available for parents looking to kit their children out for the coming school year.
A raffle was also held, with a great selection of prizes donated by Tesco and Jungle Adventure.
The event was a huge success and raised more than £170 through a raffle for St Helena Hospice.
St Anne’s and St John’s ward councillor Natalie Sommers said: “It was such a pleasure to help with this event, which once again was a big success.
“In tough financial times these free community events are so important to residents. Everyone had a wonderful time.
“Huge thanks to all involved, whether they donated their time, raffle prizes or money, and of course, thank you to all the residents who came and joined in the fun.”
