A RARE American classic car from the 1960s and a vintage Austin are set to go under the hammer in Colchester.
Reeman Dansie is set to host its highly anticipated Specialist Classic Cars, Vehicle, and Automobilia auction on Saturday.
It will take place at 11 am at their Wyncolls Road premises with previews on Friday.
The auction is offering up nearly 40 classic cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles, along with 60 lots of automobilia.
The auction’s highlights include a 1928 Austin Seven Chummy, estimated at £3,000 to £5,000.
This charming 'oily rag' Vintage Austin 7 tourer with its correct higher nickel plated radiator and wing mounted lights was bought by its last owner in winter 1963, from Snape in Suffolk with a collapsed hood, full of snow and with flat tyres.
He trailered it home and got it running and then put it on blocks in a dry barn where it has remained for many years in slumber.
According to a previous owner, it had appeared in a photo in "The Autocar" in 1954.
The current owner began a restoration project in 2017, with Reeman Dansie saying is a "rare opportunity" for collectors to acquire a piece of automotive history with much of the groundwork already completed.
Another standout is a 1960 Chevrolet Impala four-door Sport Sedan, estimated at £15,000 to £20,000.
This American classic, known for its "jet smooth" design and distinctive "bat wing" tail fins, was imported to England in 1988.
The car has been well-maintained and regularly showcased at rallies, making it a prized possession for any classic car enthusiast.
Auctioneer James Grinter, from Reeman Dansie, said: “We’ve got some interesting cars. Safe to say they have been very ‘well-loved cars.’
"I am particularly excited about meeting the owners, because so far, I have loved all the stories they have been telling me about the cars and their history.
“We have a Rolls Royce here, which the owner has had since 1976. It’s in original condition. And like a lot of the other cars, it’s been loved and cherished for years.”
In addition to these stunning vehicles, the auction will feature a variety of automobilia, including cherished number plates, mascots, badges, and signs.
Mr Grinter said there is a lot of interest surrounding their collection of vintage motorcycles and said the auction was not “just a sale but a celebration of automotive heritage, offering something for every classic car lover.”
