Courts in Essex and Suffolk have been busy determining the fate of offenders from north East Essex and beyond during a busy month of court cases.
Last month, judges have seen dangerous drivers, stalkers and fare-dodgers walk into the courtroom.
Some walked free, others did not – here is a round-up of some of the defendants who have been sentenced to spending time behind bars.
Sabrino Hajderaj: Admirer of infamous drug bosses
Hajderaj, of Sunny Bank, Croydon, was picked up by police following four deaths related to heroin overdoses in eight days.
The defendant, 20, was found with more than £2,000 of class A drugs and a knife upon his arrest in Colchester.
Appearing at Ipswich Crown Court, the court heard from a report which suggested he glamourised drug lords Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ and Pablo Escobar.
He was jailed by His Honour Recorder Thomas Moran for four years of which he will serve half in a young offenders’ institution before being released on licence.

The defendant, of no fixed abode but from the Colchester area, also pleaded guilty to eight counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order, having been banned from entering any stores in Essex belonging to the chain, which was imposed in late 2022.
The court heard Glasgow stole £583.12 of products on his various sprees and was sentenced to a total of 16 months in light of his guilty pleas.

Kevin McCarthy: Road rage ‘difficult to defend’
The 46-year-old was sentenced to 15 months behind bars after losing his temper in Eight Ash Green.
After a near-miss, McCarthy pursued another driver for two miles while his partner and an 11-year-old child were in the car.
The defendant, of Poultry Close, Fordham Heath, caused an accident and £2,000 to the other car while driving without insurance.
Daniel Setter, mitigating after McCarthy admitted a number of charges, said it was difficult to defend his actions which left a child injured.

Nicholas Dimopoulos: Cleared of rape but sentenced for suffocation
Dimopoulos, 30, admitted causing actual bodily harm and denied non-fatal strangulation, but was later found guilty of the latter charge during a trial at Ipswich Crown Court.
A jury acquitted him of rape, sexual assault and grievous bodily harm following an incident which left a woman with two black eyes, the court was told.
It was said that the defendant had told the victim to lie about how she got the injuries, which she did when interviewed by Essex Police.
Dimopoulos, of Empress Avenue in West Mersea, was jailed for 28 months concurrently for non-fatal suffocation and causing actual bodily harm.

Hassan Ali: Guilty of biting off housemate’s ear
Chelmsford Crown Court sent Ali, of North Downs Road, Croydon, to jail for three years after he brutally attacked his housemate.
Ali was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm at an address in New Park Street and getting into a physical altercation with the victim, who was sent to Colchester Hospital, where doctors were unable to reattach part of the ear he lost in the attack.
The fight started following a discussion about a mess that had occurred in the house and the defence argued Ali had acted in self-defence.
Witness statements and the defendant’s account were questioned by Recorder William Clegg KC after the jury had deliberated and found the defendant guilty.
