A COLCHESTER author has released the fourth novel in his children's book series which he says is like 'Ghostbusters meets Eastenders'.
Doug Smith, writing as Douglas Caleb, has released his newest book Ghosts Caught On Cameron, part of a series aimed at readers aged 8-12.
The story follows Cameron and his dad on their ghost hunting adventures and the invention of the ultimate spirit detector.
However, after a demon accuses them of trapping its son Cameron finds himself with ten days to escape from the pits of hell.
Douglas said: “If you're looking for a fantasy novel to read alongside your eight to 12-year-old, this is the one for you. Be warned, though, you may find you're reading on once your child has gone to sleep.
“As an educator, I can say this book is perfect for middle-grade students, especially creative ones who are eager to stretch their own imaginations. It's a must-read.”
The book is a part of the Our Weird World series of strange stories for middle-grade readers which can be read in any order.
Douglas said: "It feels brilliant to release my fourth book, and also a kind of relief. Putting out these four books in quick succession was my initial goal, and now I’ve accomplished that I feel I can move on to the serious business of promotion and marketing!
"Having four books to work with is a real bonus for a new author. But the writing won’t stop - I’ve still got another four or five books almost finished in the pipeline, and ideas for many more.
"It’s kind of Ghostbusters meets Eastenders. It’s a story about a father-son relationship and family dynamics mixed up with the supernatural."
The book was launched on August 30 and the first two in the series can be found in Red Lion Bookstores.
He said: "The launch party was a lot of fun, and it was great to see so many friends there.
"It was a brilliant opportunity to thank everyone for their support and feedback, and to do a short reading - my first in front of an audience!"
The book can be purchased on Amazon at www.amazon.co.uk/Ghosts-Caught-Cameron-father-son/dp/1917295073/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=.
