A MAN is set to honour his brother who died after a battle with cancer and raise funds for a vital charity tomorrow.

Ashley Barrow is the brother of family man James Barrow, of Earls Colne, who sadly lost a battle against stage four bowel cancer in June this year.

Prior to his death, James’ wife Nicky Barrow launched a fundraiser to help purchase a year’s supply of a private drug known as Bevacizumab or Avastin.

It was hoped that the drug would help improve James’ quality of life.

Now, Ashley is set to ‘brave the shave’ and cut his hair off in effort to raise money for St Helena Hospice which aided James in his final months of life.

The event is taking place from 4pm at The Drapers pub, in Earls Colne, and will also feature an indie music party, BBQ and live music from The A.MS.

All proceeds will be donated to the charity.

Ashley has already raised £1,250 for his hair shaving through a JustGiving page.

He said: “It has been emotional.

“My brother was supposed to be here doing it with me.

“It’s on his birthday, tomorrow would have been his birthday, I am looking forward to raising a lot of money for a much-needed charity

“They have done a lot for us for the last four months of his life.”
