DANNY Cowley admits Colchester United must improve the quality of their deliveries into the box following two successive frustrating draws.
The U’s have regularly got into good areas in the final third in their previous three matches in League Two but have only two goals to show for their efforts.
Colchester looked dangerous against Bromley but had to rely on Owura Edwards’ second-half equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw, at the JobServe Community Stadium.
Edwards provided more threat on the left flank after coming off the bench and boss Cowley wants to see more of the same but with an end product.

Cowley said: “I think that’s definitely something we can improve on.
“There were a lot of times when we got to the final action and maybe we were just trying to be a little bit too precise.
“Sometimes then, we’re delaying or making the wrong selection and we just need to be more positive.
“We’re getting into some really good wide areas – be more positive with the cross and then the forward players can time their runs accordingly.
“We’ve definitely got to improve the quality of our crosses and try to create more of a relationship between the crosses and the boys in the box.
“That is definitely something for us to add to our game but I think we have to be realistic and we are a very new group with a lot of relationships and partnerships and understanding is still to be formed ultimately.
“We got into lots and lots of good areas and had lots of good moments (against Bromley) and I think we carried goal threat throughout but we weren’t able to make the most of our dominance really.
“We want to be a good team but we’re not quite a good team yet, because we’re just getting in our own way a little bit with some real calamity moments.
“We can be a good team and I think we’ve got good players and I think we’ve just got to work it out.
“Sometimes, it’s the final details that give you the control.”

Colchester were without defender Fiacre Kelleher for the Bromley match, as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.
Fellow centre-back Ben Goodliffe was an unused substitute in the draw, after having an ‘interrupted’ week in the build-up to the game.
“Kells has had a knee injury,” said Cowley.
“He’s got a little bit of fluid on the knee but that seems to have cleared.
“He’s trained the last two days; he part trained on Tuesday but trained fully today (Thursday).
“We’ve just got to expose him to some high-speed stuff before he’s available.
“Ben Goodliffe had an interrupted week, so we weren’t able to start with him.”
