OVERNIGHT closures are set to continue on the A12 for the entirety of this week as National Highways heads towards its final phase of works in the area.

National Highways has confirmed the A12 between Junction 25 Marks Tey to Junction 26 Stanway will be closed from 8pm to 6am tonight, September 9, until the morning of September 11.

The £36.9million scheme started in October 2022 and National Highways is improving the safety of the road while extending the life of it at the same time.

According to the National Highways website, the closures will see barriers removed from the A12 and more “finishing work”.

During the closures, traffic will be diverted to an exit at the A12’s Junction 25 northbound exit slip road at Marks Tey.

Motorists will then follow a signed diversion route along the B1408 London Road to Stanway, and vehicles will re-join the A12 Northbound via the Junction 26 northbound entry slip road

Overnight closures will then take place on September 11 to September 15 between 9pm and 6am on the A12 southbound between Junction 26 Stanway and Junction 25 Marks Tey.

Traffic will be diverted to the exit at Junction 26 Stanway and travel along the A1124, B1408 London Road, and will then rejoin the A12 at Junction 25 Marks Tey.

A statement on the National Highways website has thanked motorists for their “patience during these roadworks”.

It also said: “The dates listed above will be subject to factors including weather and work progress.”
