A VILLAGE based business has received a prestigious award for its environmentally friendly efforts.

Marketing business Climbing Trees, in Earls Colne High Street, has been awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development.

It was awarded to the business by the Lord-Lieutenant of Essex, Jennifer Tolhurst, at Wivenhoe House in Colchester.

Climbing Trees has committed to the One Million Trees Pledge, planting one million trees by 2030 through its partnerships with Ecologi and Tree Nation.

So far, the marketing agency, which specialises in performance adverts and search engine optimisation, has already applied 267,000 trees and invested £30,000 in the initiative.

According to the business, it has also decreased its carbon emissions per person from 5.3 to 3.69 between 2019 to 2022.

The King's Awards for Enterprise 2024 celebrate the achievements of 252 UK businesses across four categories: Innovation, International Trade, Sustainable Development, and Promoting Opportunity through social mobility.

Only 29 companies in the UK won the prestigious ‘Sustainable Development’ award in 2024 and Climbing Trees was the only company in Essex to receive the accolade.
