COLCHESTER United make the long trip to play bottom club Morecambe, this weekend.

The U's are aiming to secure a first away win of the season when they take on the Shrimps.

From likely line-ups to key men and the referee, all you need to know can be found below ahead of the League Two clash at the Globe Arena (kick-off 3pm).

Team news

Colchester are set to welcome back defender Fiacre Kelleher to the squad following his knee injury.

(Image: Richard Blaxall) Ben Goodliffe is also pushing for a start while Aaron Donnelly is available again after returning from international duty with Northern Ireland under-21s.

Colchester will be without Milton Oni for several months after he suffered a serious knee injury against Brentford last month.

Predicted line-ups:

Colchester United: Macey, Hunt, Goodliffe, Flanagan, Iandolo, Woodyard, Egbo, Payne, Edwards, Hopper, Taylor.

Morecambe: Moore, Tutonda, Stott, Williams, Hendrie, Songo'o, Jones, Slew, Macadam, Edwards, Angol.

Colchester head coach Danny Cowley:

“We can take a lot of positives from the Bromley game, in terms of the way that we performed.

“If you look at both of our last two home games, we were pleased with 90 per cent of them and we certainly dominated both games and had really good control.

“We got into a lot of good areas and truth be known, we’ve had ten, 12 penalty shouts.

“Whether they are penalties or not is kind of irrelevant but the reason that I bring it up is because it shows you how many good areas we constantly got into.

“We need to keep working on connecting the crosses with the boys in the box and having a little bit more quality in the final third, making better decisions and being a bit more ruthless.

“If we can do those things, we’ll start to get value on our good play.

“Defensively, a lot of what we did was right but we’ve made key mistakes that have meant that we’ve gone behind in games and the history of football suggests that if you concede the first goal, winning becomes significantly harder.”

Head to head

Tom Flanagan is set to skipper Colchester at the Globe Arena, as they look to secure their first away win of the season.

He is set to come up against fellow seasoned EFL pro Lee Angol, who like Flanagan also previously had a spell at Shrewsbury Town earlier in his career.

Opposition view

Morecambe boss Derek Adams told BBC Lancashire: "We're on a good run of performances.

"The problem is we haven't been good enough in the final third, decisions have gone against us and the opposition have got ahead in the game.

"We could have had ten, 12 points already this season.

“That's not dissimilar to the feelings of opposition managers from when we've played against them. I think that's a telling sign in itself."

Last meeting

Arthur Read’s brilliant free-kick was the difference between the two sides when Colchester last met Morecambe, in January.

The U’s won 1-0 at the Globe Arena, to secure Danny Cowley a first win as U’s head coach.
