Colchester Castle has announced an event that will offer people the chance to stargaze from its roof.
The "Cosmic Castle" event will take place on Friday, October 11 and will see visitors take part in a number of activities all about the cosmos.
The event will include a planetarium experience, expert-led talks, and space-themed crafts for people of all ages.
If the weather permits, visitors will also be able to look at the moon through a telescope from the roof of the historic castle.
Councillor Natalie Sommers, portfolio holder for communities, heritage and public protection, said: "This event is a unique blend of history and astronomy.
"We’re excited to offer an evening where visitors can connect with the universe in such a meaningful way, all within the walls of our iconic castle.
"Visitors will also be able to view Gaia to complete their evening and create some wonderful memories."
The event is supported by the Tiptree Stargazer volunteers, whose passion and expertise in astronomy have helped make the evening possible.
Tickets are £20 for adults and £15 for children.
To book, call the castle on 01206 282939.
People are warned that access to the castle roof may be difficult for people with limited mobility.
