A crash on A137 Parsons Heath, near Churnwood Road, has partially blocked the road both ways.
Traffic is very slow around the area, as reported by the AA traffic website.
Essex Police confirm there have been no serious injuries or arrests.
The emergency services have been contacted for comment.
