Essex University has climbed ten places in the Good University Guide 2025.
The Colchester-based university now stands at number 46 in the overall rankings, which are published by the Times and Sunday Times.
The Good University Guide reports the university is also highly ranked for social inclusion, coming 29th out of all universities in England and Wales.
Deputy vice-chancellor Prof Neil Kellard said: “We’re pleased to see these rankings reflect strong performances in key measures based on feedback from our students, such as student experience and teaching quality.
“We strive to offer students a really immersive campus experience where they can meet the world in one place and get involved in a whole range of extra-curricular activities alongside their studies, including sports clubs, student societies and lots of study and careers support.
“The diversity and inclusivity of our community is also highlighted by our high ranking for social inclusion."
Earlier this month, Essex University rose to 23rd in overall rankings in the Guardian University Guide.
It was also revealed the university is ranked in the top 25 for student experience, with the university’s drama, dance and cinematics, social work and philosophy courses also ranked highly in UK subjects.
Prof Kellard continued: “This month we’ve seen our strongest ranking in the Guardian University Guide, an impressive rise in the Good University Guide, and the Government’s Knowledge Exchange Framework underlines our positive impact on the economy and society through our research and education.
“This is a testament to lots of hard work within the university and students’ union and we’re looking forward to an exciting year ahead as we prepare for the new term.”
Kieran Phillips, the students' union president for the 2023-2024 academic year, told the guide: “The experience at Essex is like no other - it is a real home away from home.
“From making crafts while making friends at SU Makes to experiencing hundreds of different cultures through community events or partying the night away in our on-campus nightclub, there really is something for every type of personality.”
