AN A12 crash brought traffic to a standstill as emergency services rushed to the scene of a collision which left a car “completely mangled”.
The incident occurred at about 1pm on Sunday near Marks Tey, forcing hundreds of drivers to grind to a halt on the southbound side of the carriageway.
A police car and an ambulance made their way through the traffic to reach the scene, where a Ford Kuga had been severely damaged, according to one eyewitness.
They said: “It looked like a serious collision.
“The Ford Kuga I drove past was completely mangled – drivers switched off their engines and got out of their cars to see what was going on.
“A police car made its way through the traffic and an ambulance came through about ten minutes later.”
Essex Police said no arrests have been made and the driver of the Ford Kuga has been taken to hospital as a precaution.
