THREE men have been released on bail after a fatal cash in Colchester, Essex Police have confirmed.

Three teenagers from Colchester were arrested after a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in Mersea Road shortly before 9.20pm on Saturday, September 21.

Tributes have been pouring in for Taylen Ireton, a 13-year-old boy from Colchester, who sadly died after being hit by a car.

The community has also raised over £12,000 for his family on a GoFundMe set up for them.

An investigation has been launched by detectives in the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) and Taylen’s family are being supported by specialist Family Liaison Officers at this difficult time.

(Image: Newsquest) Two 19-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision, while an 18-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

They have been released on bail until December 4.

A 48-year-old man from Colchester arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and assisting an offender has been released under investigation.

Det Sgt Same Nason, from SCIU, said: “We continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision and to support Taylen’s family through the forthcoming days.

“We appreciate that a number of people spoke with officers at the scene, but we’d still like to speak to anyone who may have information or dashcam footage that could help us.”
