A COLCHESTER star is presenting his own show about food and travel in Ireland, where his family hails from.
Dermot O'Leary is bringing Dermot’s Taste Of Ireland to ITV every day this week at 2pm, following on from the first episode on Monday.
The show follows the star presenter, who grew up in Colchester, as he journeys across Ireland, trying out national delicacies along the way.
Having spent many summers holidaying in Ireland as a child, Dermot is taken on a trail of nostalgia and joy, with his parents joining him for some of the series.
Made up of five hour-long episodes full of Ireland’s best-kept, most-delicious secrets, the show is all about the unique dishes hailing from the country.
Dermot’s Taste of Ireland takes place all over the Emerald Isle, exploring everything from Michelin Star restaurants to oysters fresh from the sea.
Each episode sees Dermot visit a different location, meeting farmers, fishermen, artisan producers and chefs - and discovering some of the best Irish food and drink experiences.
Food is not the only thing on the menu as the This Morning star also visits Irish cities and villages, exploring beautiful coastlines and serene landscapes.
Dermot said filming the show brought back some great memories.
He said: “The island of Ireland has a very special place in my heart.
"It's where I have my earliest and most fond memories and makes up a huge part of my identity.
"Filming there for this series was such a wonderful experience, bringing back some really happy memories, and also allowed me to experience lots of new things I hadn’t seen before, and see how Ireland has evolved.”
Dermot O'Leary was born in Colchester and went to primary school in Marks Tey, later joining St Benedict's Catholic College.
