SHOCKED onlookers were left “speechless” as they watched a car drive the wrong way down a city centre street towards oncoming traffic.

A video captured by a motorist shows the car heading in the wrong direction along one-way Queen Street, in Colchester.

The vehicle is seen coming up Queen Street next to the Cash In Hand Pawn Shop and just before the Curzon Cinema.

TikTok user Dills Dashcam, who shot the footage, manages to slow down just in time as the car also stops and heads down a side road, where the old bus station used to be.

Speaking to the Gazette, the TikToker said “It took me a second to realise there was an oncoming car.

“In that split second, you think what are they doing?

"I had a motorbike behind me. I positioned myself aiming at the car but at a low speed so they would slow down and stop.

“Thankfully they shot off towards the old bus centre.

“I was absolutely shocked and lost for words. How could they drive up the road the wrong way.”

The TikToker has millions of views on his page and regularly posts videos of driving blunders.

He has more than 5,000 followers and over 531,000 likes on his dashcam disasters.

Earlier this month when Dills Dashcam spotted another driver going the wrong way on the roundabout along St Andrew's Avenue.

In April, he recorded the moment when a pedestrian was caught hopping over a closed level-crossing at Hythe Station.

Castle ward councillor Richard Kirkby-Taylor was shocked to hear about the Queen Street incident.

He said: “Phenomenally dangerous. Anyone who knows who this person was… this kind of behaviour is really dangerous.

“The fact they nipped down a side road meant they knew where they were going.

“It means it wouldn’t have been an accident.

“I am thankful no one was hurt. Some people should not be driving.”
