COLCHESTER United's League Two trip to Fleetwood Town has been postponed.

The U's trip to Highbury Stadium, which had been scheduled for October 12, has been called off due to international call ups.

A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.

Fleetwood have had players called up for international duty on the same weekend and their request to call the game off was agreed by the EFL.

Town have three players - Carl Johnston, Mackenzie Hunt and Elliot Bonds - away on international duty in the next week.

Hunt will be away with UAE, and is in line to play in their two Asia Cup clashes against North Korea (October 10) and Uzbekistan (October 15).

Bonds will travel for Guyana’s two CONCACAF fixtures, with a home game against Guatemala (October 12) and a trip to play Suriname on October 16.

Johnston will link up with Northern Ireland’s under-21s next week for their UEFA Euro 2025 Qualifiers.

They will come up against Azerbaijan at home on October 12 and then travel away to Luxembourg on October 15.

Fleetwood's Stephen McMullan has also been called-up to the Northern Ireland under-21 squad.

Discussions will take place between the two clubs to find a suitable date for the rearranged game.

The postponement means that three of the U's next four games in League Two will be at the JobServe Community Stadium, starting with their clash with Carlisle United on Saturday.
