COLCHESTER United striker Lyle Taylor has been called up to the Montserrat squad for their forthcoming internationals.

The 34-year-old striker travels on Monday to Saint Vincent in readiness for Montserrat's two CONCACAF Nations League games against Bonaire, which take place on October 10 and October 13.

As a result of his call-up, Taylor will miss the U's Bristol Street Motors Trophy Group E trip to play League One side Leyton Orient, next Tuesday.

The Montserrat skipper will return to U's training on Thursday, October 17, ahead of the home game against Cheltenham Town, two days later.

Taylor will not miss any league games, with Colchester's League Two clash with Fleetwood Town scheduled for next weekend postponed due to international call-ups for both sides.

Taylor said: "I'm fortunate enough to be the captain and to be able to lead a group of men out into a game which is massively important to me.

"It's an honour every single time so it's not something that I will turn down at any point, because I'm fortunate enough to be in that position.

"I absolutely love playing for Montserrat and every time I go away, it's a special experience."

Taylor will link up with former Colchester midfielder Brandon Comley, who is also a member of the Montserrat international squad.

Colchester's on-loan Nottingham Forest duo Aaron Donnelly and Jamie McDonnell have been selected for the Northern Ireland under-21 squad for their forthcoming Euro U21 qualifiers.
