A MOTHER on trial for attacking a man told police she set out to intimidate him and drank alcohol so she would feel confident in a confrontation.

Bibi Stone, 38, is accused of criminal damage, burglary, and grievous bodily harm at the address of Lee Jackson in St John’s Avenue, Colchester.

It is alleged Stone and co-defendant Alex Potter, 32, burgled Mr Jackson’s address in April before Potter stabbed him twice in the abdomen.

The defendants are both then said to have stolen his wallet, tobacco, and a jar of change.

Stone, of Deck Place, Colchester was later arrested and taken to Colchester police station where she was interviewed at 10.47pm.

Potter, of Tony Webb Close, Colchester, handed himself in at a police station several days later.

In an interview with police, Stone said she had been receiving threatening texts and phone calls from Jackson, who said he was owed £59.99 after he sold a PlayStation to Stone but left his account logged in.

She also told police she believed Mr Jackson's partner was targeting her, and that Mr Jackson was targeting her mother asking for the money.

She said: “I got a text from this lady saying, ‘You don’t know who I am but I know who you are and I’m going to get the £60 that you owe him’.

“Then I got a text saying ‘I’ve just left London, I will see you very soon’.

“I was on the bus from Clacton with my baby – I took my child to my mum’s because I was so scared and I started drinking alcohol because I have mental health issues.

“I just wanted to chuck the PlayStation back at him – chuck it through the window.”

She said: “It was for confidence – I didn’t know what he was going to be like.

“That’s why I smashed his window – I wanted to intimidate him, scare him because he was going to scare me.”

Both defendants deny charges of criminal damage, burglary, and grievous bodily harm.

It was 'unlucky' Lee Jackson got injured

A STABBING which began when two defendants went to confront a man about a PlayStation escalated through bad luck, a defendant told police.

A transcript of Bibi Stone’s evidence was read to a jury at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday after the defendant denied her part in an incident which resulted in Lee Jackson being attacked with a knife.

The court heard Bibi Stone and Alex Potter went to confront Mr Jackson in St John’s Avenue after he allegedly threatened Stone over £60 he claimed he was owed.

Stone, 38, said it was “unlucky” Mr Jackson got injured.

In a police interview, she said: “If I wanted to stab him, I would not have done it there – I would have just rung him up and met him in a park somewhere and got him attacked."

She went on: "I watch the programmes all the time – I know about knife crime.

“I know you are going to go to jail.

“I would like to think if I wanted to get someone stabbed, it would be at night or some time when it’s dark.

“I know in my heart of hearts I was going to get arrested on criminal damage – I wanted to cause him some jip.

“It is unlucky he has ended up getting injured – I went there to have a go at him, tell him to leave me alone and put a rock through his window to intimidate him and scare him.”

The trial continues.
