Colchester Castle is set to become a hotspot for spooky activities this October half-term.

The castle will host 'Eerie Encounters', a series of events for families from October 26 to November 3.

The events will include 'Haunted and Dark Tours', which delve into the castle's ghostly past, a family fun night with ghostly games and creepy crafts, and a chance to spend the night at the castle for a spooky sleepover.

There will also be a 'Monstrous Medieval Trail', where families can follow clues to uncover the castle's secrets.

The castle's armoury will be open for exploration, including details on the craftsmanship behind the historic objects, as well as the opportunities to handle replica medieval weapons and armour.

Colchester Council cabinet heritage boss Natalie Sommers said: "Colchester Castle is the place to be this October half-term.

"Our Eerie Encounters week offers an array of fun activities for all ages, from spooky tours and party nights to thrilling sleepovers and much more.

"It's the perfect way for families to create unforgettable half-term memories."
