A Colchester funeral directors is supporting grieving families during Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Hunnaball Family Funeral Group, with branches across Essex and Suffolk, is participating in the annual campaign from October 9 to 15.

The initiative, which includes ribbon displays and sponsored walks, aims to raise awareness of pregnancy and infant loss, and provide support to affected families.

The group will create a special remembrance display at its Stanway branch, lighting the window in pink and blue.

Names of lost children can be added to the display.

Spokesman Sarah Dewey said: "Baby Loss Awareness Week is a campaign so close to our hearts.

"As funeral directors, we understand only too well how unbearable the pain can be when you lose someone, especially a baby or a child."

Maria Gormley, of the Sands baby bereavement charity, said: "It is great to have the support of Hunnaball Family Funeral Group, not just during Baby Loss Awareness Week but in the way they are supporting families devastated by the loss of a loved one."

The week ends with the global Wave of Light at 7pm on Tuesday, October 15, where residents are invited to light candles in memory of babies who have died.
