THE A12 roadworks have made national radio after a presenter revealed they had been stuck on the road for nearly three hours.

Alan Brazil, who commutes from his home near Hadleigh to the TalkSport studio in London Bridge for his breakfast show on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, said the overnight closures near Colchester are “an absolute joke”.

Speaking to his co-host Ray Parlour last Friday, Mr Brazil, who spent most of his career at Ipswich Town before later playing for Witham, Chelmsford, and Wivenhoe, said: “What about last Friday going home, Ray? You know just between you and Colchester?

“I couldn’t believe it – it took me two hours 40 minutes to get home.

“And do you know what it was? There was about 100 cones that someone had forgotten to take in – there was nothing there.

"There was no hole, there was no traffic, there was no accident – there was just cones that were there and they’d moved the machinery and left the cones there.

“You know when I drive up some Wednesday mornings, I have to delay it now.

“Because if I get there too early, I have to go all the way through Colchester - it’s an absolute joke.”
