COLCHESTER United striker Lyle Taylor scored the winner as Montserrat beat Bonaire in their Concacaf Nations League B Group A international.

Skipper Taylor converted a penalty early in the second half to seal his side a 1-0 win in the game, played at the Arnos Vale Ground.

The 34-year-old played the full 90 minutes for Lee Bowyer's side, as they eased to victory.

Former Colchester midfielder Brandon Comley also featured for Montserrat in the win.

Taylor recently told the Gazette: "I'm fortunate enough to be the captain and to be able to lead a group of men out into a game which is massively important to me.

"It's an honour every single time so it's not something that I will turn down at any point, because I'm fortunate enough to be in that position.

"I absolutely love playing for Montserrat and every time I go away, it's a special experience."

Taylor and Montserrat have another game against Bonaire, on Sunday.

The Montserrat skipper will return to U's training next Thursday ahead of the home game against Cheltenham Town, two days later.

Taylor will not miss any league games, with Colchester's League Two clash with Fleetwood Town scheduled for this weekend postponed due to international call-ups for both sides.
