A motorbike group is holding a 100-mile charity bike ride in aid of Children in Need.

James Chambers, 28, founded the Colchester Motorbike Group in January to help himself and others find friends with a shared passion of motorbikes and motorsports.

The group now has more than 1,200 members on Facebook and is fundraising for the BBC's Children in Need by staging a 100-mile ride on November 9.

The ride will start at Costa Coffee on Ipswich Road, with the meeting time to be confirmed, and finish at the same location.

Stops on the scenic route include Coggeshall, Halstead, Sudbury, Needham Market, Hadleigh, Lawford, and Little Bromley.

James said: “It is friendly for all bikes and should take over three hours.

"Right now 50 people are intending to go, with hopes there could be more.

“We will be doing a collection on the day as well as donations, and my bike will have a yellow ribbon as well as a Pudsey Bear.”

Essex Police have been informed about the event and the Essex Blood Runners blood delivery volunteers could also be attending.
