It's by no means recent, but Colchester's impressive scene for music, arts, and culture continues to grow.

I've showcased thousands of events through the Keep Colchester Cool project I launched in 2009.

Now, I'll bring the best events to you each week which I recommend checking out.

Here are Ben Howard's five recommendations for music, arts, and culture in Colchester in the week ahead.

The Strictly Vinyl Collective returns to Roots & Grooves on Saturday with DJs Cyberdog, Bungee, Ritchie Karnage, Kerry Nolan, and Bazz.

They'll deliver a night of multi-genre vinyl, blending house, garage, electro, and breaks.

Expect friendly vibes, great tunes, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Starts at 8pm, free entry.

A rising singer-songwriter, Georgia Crandon, will perform at the Victoria Inn this Sunday.

Blending retro pop, rock, and soul with influences from the '60s and '70s, her music explores themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery.

With an honest, emotional style that's earning her critical acclaim, Georgia's voice is both powerful and vulnerable, making her an artist to watch.

Starts at 5.30pm. Free admission (Donations to artists encouraged).

On Wednesday, Reverend Billy and The Stop Shopping Choir present The Fabulous Unknown at Colchester Arts Centre.

This high-energy activist troupe from New York brings music, humour, and passion to their important environmental cause.

Doors open at 7.30pm. Pay what you can afford (door profits will be donated to the Save The Wick campaign).
