COLCHESTER’S police officers arrested a man wanted for a recall to prison during patrols to make business safer in the city centre.

Over the last few days, officers from the city centre team have been conducting foot patrols with partners in the city centre as part of Safer Business Action Week.

It is an event held annually where police and partner agencies will work together to tackle business crime within the community.

Officers conducted joint foot patrols with the Colchester Business improvement District (BID).

They spoke with multiple businesses around the city centre about any concerns or issues, while also providing crime prevention advice.

Officers also conducted foot patrols, engaging with members of the public and enforcing the Public Space Protection Order patrolling through antisocial behaviour hotspot areas and taking enforcement action where breaches of the PSPO were spotted.

Police and crime support officers (PCSOs) have also been on foot, where they arrested a suspect.

A spokesman said: "Our PCSO's spotted a male wanted for a recall to prison.

"They maintained a visual on the suspect until officers arrived and arrested the male before he had the chance to make off."
