A MAN has been assaulted and left with facial and head injuries, after an argument between two groups in the garden of the Purple Dog pub in Colchester.

The man in his 40s was assaulted and left with facial and head injuries after an argument broke out between two groups in the Purple Dog garden on Eld Lane, Colchester.

The man who was assaulted is said to have been trying to diffuse the situation before suffering injuries.

The incident happened between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Friday October 11.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "At this stage, no arrests have been made and we’re following a number of targeted lines of enquiry.

"We’re also asking anyone who was in the pub and the pub’s garden that evening to please come forward and speak to us.

"The suspect is described as a white man, of stocky build, about 6ft 2ins and has long, curly blond hair.

"Witnesses have described him wearing a dark blue hooded top, grey jeans and white shoes.
