A lorry has overturned following a crash on the A12.
Traffic is currently stationary and stretching back over four miles to Stratford St Mary following the incident on the northbound carriageway between Capel St Mary and East Bergholt.
The road is partially blocked.
There are nine fire engines, including seven crews from Essex and two from Ipswich attending the scene.
A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said: "There are seven appliances from Essex Fire and Rescue Service currently in attendance. SFRS currently has one fire engine from Ipswich East and one from Hadleigh in attendance.
"Suffolk Police and East of England Ambulance Service are also in attendance."
A spokesperson for East of England Ambulance Service said: "We sent an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer vehicle and one person was transported to Ipswich Hospital."
Motorists are advised to avoid the area as traffic increases and find a different route.
