A COLCHESTER youngster has a spring in her step after her incredible tricks on the trampoline saw her crowned champion.
Oceana Bryan, a member of the Colchester School of Gymnastics trampoline club, has claimed the top spot in the 9-10 girl’s category at the prestigious English Trampoline Championships held in Telford.
The 10-year-old wowed the judges with a flawless routine that secured her victory over fierce competition from gymnasts across the country.
Her impressive win comes on the back of a string of recent successes.
Just two weeks ago, Oceana claimed a bronze medal at the National Age Group Finals, and more recently, she finished an outstanding 13th out of 60 competitors in the 10-12 age group at the British Championships.
Her rise in the sport has been swift, with this latest achievement marking her as one of the most exciting young talents in British trampolining.
Oceana, who attends Bishop William Ward C of E Primary School, first took up trampolining and gymnastics at the age of three.
She now trains six hours a week for trampolining, with additional gymnastics training on top of that.
Despite her busy schedule, all her training takes place after school and on weekends.
Her parents, Rebecca and Owen Bryan, are beaming with pride.
“We’re absolutely thrilled at the determination and focus Oceana has shown in both her training and competitions. She has so much inner drive,” Rebecca said.
Oceana’s inspiration comes from her idol, Bryony Page, the Paris 2024 Trampolining Gold medallist, and she is eager to follow in her footsteps.
Oceana said: "This win has made me even more determined to up-skill my routines and get ready for the 2025 competitions.”
Oceana’s coaching team which comprises Louise Sobodu, Elliott Innocent, Megan Taylor, and Mark Pennell has also praised her dedication.
“Oceana’s hard work and commitment have really paid off. She puts in countless hours of training, and it shows in her performances,” they said in a statement.
