Dozens of cannabis plants have been discovered during a major drugs bust in south Essex. 

Officers from Essex Police's Castle Point District Community Policing Team executed a warrant in Thundersley yesterday. 

The raid uncovered 60 cannabis plants of various sizes, along with a significant quantity ready for harvest.

After securing the scene, officers worked with UK Power Networks to ensure the setup was safely dismantled.

All plants and equipment related to the illegal grow were seized.

Essex Police is continuing its investigation into who was responsible for the cannabis grow. 

A spokesman said: "Yesterday, October 23, officers from the Community Policing Team executed a drugs warrant in Thundersley.

"A setup containing 60 cannabis plants of various sizes was discovered and seized, with a quantity awaiting to be harvested.

"Officers remained at the scene and removed the plants and equipment once made safe by UK Power Networks.

"Our investigation continues into who was responsible for the cannabis grow."
