A COLCHESTER student is bringing a taste of Tennessee to the city after launching a side line career as a country music tribute act.
Tyler D'Brass' days usually consist of lessons at Colchester Sixth Form.
But the 16-year-old has always had a passion for country music and has decided to turn his passion into a career.
The budding star has just performed his first sold out show paying tribute to country singer Morgan Wallen.
Wallen, who rose to fame on the US version of The Voice, is known for hits such as Last Night and Wasted on You.
And D'Brass' show at Colchester's Spice Restaurant was so popular he has been asked to come back and perform again.
Tyler said: "I was very nervous before I started the show but the second I started singing, and I saw how the crowd was feeling and reacted to me, I was filled with adrenaline.
"My favourite song to sing was One Thing at a Time as it got the best reception from people.
"It makes me feel really proud of myself and I also feel accomplished because I think I've done my parents proud."
This was Tyler's first-ever official performance.
He said: "This is the first thing I have done with singing but I have always wanted to get into it as my friends have always said I have a great voice and my parents really got me into it.
"I went to drama school but I didn't really enjoy the dancing, I enjoyed the singing more."
Dave D'Brass, Tyler's father, said he is proud that the show sold out, especially as it was on a quiet day of the week.
He said: "We put the show on a Monday because it is the quietest day of the week and we didn't expect many people to show up.
"It is amazing that the show was sold out and Tyler was asked to come back."
Tyler's love for country music derived from his parents taste in music.
Tyler said: "I grew up listening to Morgan Wallen because my parents introduced me to it and I just really enjoyed it.
"I go to Country 2 Country pretty much every year and I went to see Morgan Wallen in Hyde Park this year."
Tyler's next show will be at Colchester Spice, in Barrack Street, on November 3 at 4pm.
Tickets cost £25, with food included, and can be purchased from https://fixr.co/event/country-curry-night-ft-the-essex-boy-morgan-wallen-tickets-30956169/tickets.
