A NEW homeware and lifestyle store is coming to Colchester at the former Superdry site.

Søstrene Grene, a Danish homeware and lifestyle store, will be coming to Culver Square at the former Superdry space.

The clothing retailer shut its doors on September 14 after an “exceptionally challenging” financial year, Superdry bosses reported.

Now, the 3,500 sq ft site will be home to the Danish homeware brand for its first Essex store.

The family-owned chain sells everything from furniture and kitchen supplies to children’s toys, hobby items and party supplies.

The brand is keen to maintain its core values as it expands, with ideas of beauty and aesthetic meshed with practicality and organisation.

'Søstrene' means sisters in Danish, and the brand has a focus on sustainability, enthusiasm and positivity with a ‘sister spirit’ in every store.

Søstrene Grene will fill shelves with candles, vases, and other homeware products which embrace the essence of ‘hygge’- a Danish concept centred around taking time away from the daily rush to “relax and enjoy life’s quieter pleasures.”

Søstrene Grene was founded in Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest city, in 1973 by husband-and-wife team Inger Grene and Knud Cresten Vaupell Olsen.

Pronounced ‘sos-tron-e gre-nuh’, the deadline for store manager applications is December 1, with more information on the brand’s website: https://sostrenegrene.com/en-gb
