Colchester Zoo has given a sneak peek at its second ever Christmas advert as it joins the likes of big name brands John Lewis and Coca Cola.

The zoo has worked with Essex-based production company, Deadline Communications, to create the advert for the second consecutive year.

The advert, titled 'A Mammoth Adventure', is two minutes long and follows a young boy named Cole.

He is passionate about the natural world and animals, including those that have become extinct.

After a visit to Colchester Zoo, Cole is inspired by the species he learns about and dreams of a woolly mammoth named Wilbur, who helps save Christmas.

It will be released at 3pm on November 5.

Amanda Willis, from Colchester Zoo's digital design and marketing team, said: "We are exceptionally excited to release our second Christmas advert and for the chance to work with Deadline Communications once again.

"By producing this advert, we are hoping to inspire future generations to think about the conservation of animals and the importance of preventing extinction, as well as fuel their passion for knowledge and adventure at the zoo."

The zoo's management team has been busy throughout 2024, as they aim to transition the privately-owned zoo into a conservation charity, known as Colchester Zoological Society.

This will support not only animals at the zoo and native species, but also endangered species around the world.

The advert will be part of an online marketing campaign, launching on the zoo’s social media platforms and website, and will be displayed around the park on digital screens.

The advert features a brand-new Christmas song, 'Closer to You', written and performed by Josie Beth.

She said: "This project was the quickest turnaround I have ever had.

"I began writing the song and drafting ideas on September 11 and the song was mastered and ready to go about a month later.

"I am really excited to be a part of the advert this year and Merry Christmas to you all."

The song will be available for download on all major music platforms on November 4, the day before the advert's release.
