A COLCHESTER motorcycle dealership is set to close its doors with the building listed online for more than £2 million.
Colchester Kawasaki, in Commerce Way, has been listed on Rightmove for a freehold guide price of £2,500,000.
The business, which is part of the company Global Moto, offers a wide range of new and used motorcycles for sale.
The award-winning dealership also provides on-site MOT tests, services, repairs, and has regularly hosted motorcycle events or charity fundraisers over the years.
The site has been listed on Rightmove by Fenn Wright, Colchester Business Park Commercial Sales & Lettings, and spans 31,772sq feet.
Its listed key features include a “modern detached motorcycle showroom and workshop premises”, the site is “suitable for various uses”, and has “workshop, stores and mezzanine floors” available as well.
The main building also has open-plan, air-conditioned offices on the first floor, with a “partitioned office and meeting room, water closet and shower.”
A warehouse can also be found at the rear of the site.
The listing brochure said: “We are advised that the premises have a rateable value, with effect from April 1, 2023, of £107,000.
“Therefore, estimated rates payable of approximately £58,400 for the current year.
“Interested parties are advised to make their own enquiries.”
Following the news, managing director of Global Moto, Luke Gregory, confirmed the store will close at the end of the year to allow the business to “focus on some growth opportunities ahead”.
He added that moving forward Global Moto will “invest more deeply” in “core stores” and make plans for its large-scale distribution network, Lukas Distribution.
It was also noted that Global Moto is no longer partnering with the vehicle manufacturer, Piaggio Group, due to reasons the business “cannot discuss publicly”.
Mr Gregory said: “After careful consideration, we’ve made a strategic decision to close Colchester Kawasaki at the end of this year, allowing us to focus on some growth opportunities ahead.
“Kawasaki remains at the heart of what we do, alongside our dedication to brands like Royal Enfield, CF Moto, and BSA.
“Global Moto remains fully open for business and committed to serving riders long-term, and we’re here to ensure a smooth and seamless experience for all your motorcycling needs.
“Colchester Kawasaki will continue to operate as usual through the end of the year, with our dedicated team here to support you every step of the way.
“Thank you for being such an important part of our journey; we’re truly grateful for your loyalty and look forward to sharing an exciting road ahead with you.”
