SEVERE delays in the court system mean a man charged with stalking his ex-girlfriend won’t stand trial until 2026.
Stuart Slatter, 23, is accused of sending his former partner text messages and videos on Instagram after a relationship came to an end in February.
She then blocked Slatter, but it is alleged he turned up to her home, workplace, contacted her, and appeared when she was on a night out.
Slatter, of Broad Oaks Park, Colchester, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Friday to deny one charge of stalking.
The court heard Slatter will argue he had a reasonable excuse to contact the woman.
He is due to stand trial before magistrates in Colchester on Wednesday, January, 7, 2026.
