A FORMER police unit in Stanway which featured in action-packed documentary Police Interceptors had gone on sale for £2million.
The former traffic police unit in Holliwell Close, Stanway, is up for grabs, after the property has been listed with estate agents at Kemsley LLP.
The site was the home of the Colchester-based Essex Police roads policing unit.
It featured in the Channel 5 documentary back in 2009.
The show focused on the force’s use of high-perfomance Mitsubishi Evos and Subaru Imprezas, as well as the specially-trained pursuit drivers.
Now the property could be yours for £2million.
It comprises four three-bedroom houses, a vehicle workshop and offices, as well as an interview suite, located on 1.5 acres of land.
Two of the three residential properties have been converted to offices after planning permission was granted by Colchester Council in 2004.
But under the permission the buildings must be reverted back to homes once Essex Police vacate the premises.
The site could be used as land for development, offering space for up to 17 homes, subject to planning consent.
Kemsley confirmed that the interview suite may be subject to exclusion from the sale, depending on the needs of Essex Police.
An Essex Police spokesman said the unit was closed and staff moved to Boreham and Thorpe le Soken.
A spokesman said: "Our Roads Policing Unit will continue to operate 24/7 across the county. They will continue to work alongside officers and staff throughout Essex to help people and catch criminals.
"They will also continue to work to prevent and reduce road deaths and serious collisions on our roads.
"In line with our estates strategy, the site at Stanway, which is not open to the public, will be sold. Funds will be reinvested into your police service.
"This move does not affect the police teams who currently, and will continue to, work from Colchester Police Station.
"The sale of the Stanway site will not change local policing delivery or our visibility in our communities."
Written offers with proof of funding and supporting documents can be made until Thursday, December 12.
Anyone interested in viewing the property can contact Kemsley LLP for further information.
