POP sensation Pixie Lott has been announced as the headline act for a popular Colchester festival. 

Bosses of the Anti Loo Roll Festival say they are "thrilled" to have landed the Essex-born singer to perform at the event next September. 

She is the first name announced for the event, which is now in its fifth year, and takes place in  Lower Castle Park, on September 13 and 14, next year.

The songwriter has built-up an illustrious career since selling 1.6 million copies of her debut record, Turn It Up, in 2009.

Pixie has had three UK number one singles, received four BRIT Award nominations and won two MTV EMA Awards, whilst also featuring in Dolce & Gabbana campaigns, and was a judge for TV competition, The Voice Kids.

The Anti Loo Roll Festival is run by the Anti Loo Roll Brigade, a community group which helped residents throughout the Covid pandemic and now has a centre in Lakelands Stanway.

Peter Dutch, the founder of the Anti Loo Brigade is thrilled that Pixie coming to Colchester next year.

She said: “We’re really excited to announce Pixie as our first headliner, she is the first of our major acts’ announcements.

“With this being our fifth anniversary next year, we’re turning it into a bigger event with big acts

“We should have four or five huge acts on the first night and entertainment on the Sunday.

“We’ve got loads more to announce as well.”

More than 5,000 visitors attended this year’s event which featured many tribute acts including Take This, Rick Parfitt Junior, Samantha Harvey, The Moochers, FIVE, and The Stereophonies.

According to Peter, most of the early bird tickets for next year’s festival were purchased prior to any announcements being made, which he found “extremely encouraging”.

An impressive 95 per cent of early bird tickets have been purchased for the festival so far.

He said: “When we announced Pixie there was a surge, there are only a handful of early bird tickets now left.”
