Councillor for St Annes and St Johns, Natalie Sommers said: “Obviously we know it’s a bit of an accident blackspot on the Ipswich Road roundabout, as people do get confused.
“Fortunately, no one has been seriously injured and the services have done a sterling job of sorting it all out.
“The traffic does unfortunately back up quite a lot when something like this happens and we see congestion as a result, but the main thing is no one has been seriously hurt.”
The traffic was even backed up to the Colne Bank Avenue roundabout at its worst.
Delays were also worsened by Goring Road having ongoing construction works which meant the cut through between Ipswich Road and Harwich Road was affected.
