A WOMAN who was found dead in her home near Abbey Field had fatal levels of anti-depressants in her system, an inquest has heard.
Essex Coroner’s Court heard on Wednesday that Christine Bowen 59, was discovered lifeless at a property in Colet Crescent, Colchester, on April 11.
Area coroner for Essex, Michelle Brown, told the inquest Ms Bowen’s son had gone round to the address but was unable to get in, prompting him to contact the fire service who forced entry into her home.
Ms Bowen was found lifeless and had cuts to her hands.
The coroner said: “Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.
“From a medical record, she suffered from anxiety disorder and had an attempted overdose in 2022.
“She was prescribed medication for anxiety.”
A post-mortem was carried out by Dr Yinka Fashademi and a cause of death was given as paroxetine toxicity.
Mrs Brown continued: “Toxicology analysis revealed fatal levels of paroxetine which led to cardio-respiratory failure.
“There was no note left or anything that set out any intention.
“I am satisfied there were no suspicious circumstances or third-party involvement.”
Mrs Brown added there was “nothing to indicate” Ms Bowen had intended to kill herself by an overdose.
The coroner gave a cause of death as being drug related.
