A 90s rock band is the latest big name to join the line-up of headliners for a new festival in Colchester's Castle Park. 

James is the latest announcement for the stacked line-up of next year's Colchester Castle Summer Series, a brand new festival full of incredible artists. 

The band, which achieved popularity during the 1990s with four top-ten hits on the UK singles chart, will be playing on Friday, 22 August 2025.

Colchester's very own Graham Coxon will also be performing as part of The Waeve.

James' best-known singles include Come Home, Sit Down, She's a Star and the classic Laid.  

Their latest album “Yummy” charted at number one earlier this year.

Happy Monday's most popular tunes include Step On, Kinky Afro and 24 Hour Party People, whereas some of Lightning Seeds hits are Pure and the famous Three Lions 96. 

Happy Mondays formed in Salford in 1980 and The Lightning Seeds formed in Liverpool in 1989.

The Waeve is a newly-found band made up of Coxon, formerly in Blur, and Rose Elinor with tracks such You Saw  and City Lights.

"This unique celebration of live music promises to deliver unforgettable performances in the heart of one of England’s most historic and scenic locations."

The festival will also see Crag David headlining August 16, UB40 on August 17 and Texas on August 21, all with stellar supporting acts. 

The team behind the event, promoters Soundcrash and Supermodified, are well-known in the UK for hosting popular events like the Margate Summer Series, London’s South Facing Festival, Hitchin Priory Series, and Cardiff Bay Series. 

Tickets go on sale on Friday, November 15 at 10am
