IF you pass the Purple Dog on a weekend you'll likely see it jam pack with people enjoying a drink.
The Purple Dog pub which sits on Eld Lane in Colchester, is a versatile pub which offers guests a large range of indoor and outdoor seating.
The vast indoor floorspace is brilliant for the winter months, with a warm and cosy feel to it.
The outdoor area has a great atmosphere when busy, with many choosing this garden on a weekend night.
The outdoor area does have coverage and possesses a sense of personality which other pub gardens in Colchester do not.
We chose to have some food and drink from their menu in their garden area.
Food and drink prices
Classic Beef Burger with Chips - £10.95
Pint of Heineken - £5.90
Service at the pub was good and staff were very attentive - making sure you had everything you need.
The food was ordered through their website allowing you to have your food delivered without having to leave the table.
The pub boasts a strong selection of draught options including, Heineken, Birra Moretti, Aspalls, Amstel, Carlsberg, Cruzcampo and Guinness.
Aside from draught options they have a range of alcoholic options such as wine, cocktails/mocktails and various spirits.
They also have many options when it comes to the food including their All Day Breakfast, Sausage and Mash, Lasagne, Beer Battered Cod, Chicken and Beef Burgers and Loaded Fries.
We settled on a burger and chips and a pint of Heineken and the grub and drink were good.
