A Colchester hotel near the city centre is bidding to expand its guest services, a planning application has revealed.
Krishna Veeramreddy of The Anglia Star Hotel, in North Station Road, has asked Colchester Council for planning permission to convert a “redundant” first floor hotel conference room.
If is successful, the hotel will turn the 1421.20sq metre conference room into nine separate hotel rooms.
According to a design statement, each room will vary in size between 15.5sq metres and 39.6sq metres.
The plans suggest that the largest room at 39.6sq metres will be used as a large family guest room.

When considering if there will be an impact on its neighbours, the application stated there would not be.
It said: “Taking account of the character and context of the site, the proposed use of the first floor as hotel bedrooms would not give rise to any additional impacts upon neighbouring amenity.
“There is a reasonable degree of separation from the front of the building and nearby residential properties to mitigate any harm by way of material overlooking of loss of privacy.”
The Anglia Star Hotel already has 28 en-suite bedrooms and each room comes with a TV, and tea making facilities.
A decision is yet to be made.
