A person has been taken to hospital following an incident near a Colchester supermarket.
Emergency services were called to Bromley Road this morning after reports of a crash, involving a pedestrian and a car.
The area near the Tesco Express has been cordoned off by police since the incident shortly after 8am.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 8.10am with reports of a road traffic collision between a pedestrian and a car on Bromley Road in Colchester.
"An ambulance and ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene. The pedestrian was transported to Colchester General Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
The ambulance service confirmed it was a woman who was hit.
