A service station has opened its first "Refuel Market" branded store in Ardleigh.
Tankerford Ltd launched the store at Ardleigh South Service Station yesterday, replacing a former Spar store.
This is part of Tankerford's strategy to diversify its retail offerings, particularly in the fresh and premium convenience sectors.
The Refuel Market brand, created by Tankerford, aims to provide a "fresh, elevated shopping experience for commuters and local customers".
The store offers a wide selection of freshly prepared food items, a range of snacks, and meal deals, with exclusive Co-op brand products.
Jamie Wheeler, retail sales director at Tankerford Ltd, said: "When I joined Tankerford, we saw an opportunity to offer something different within the service station market.
"We wanted to create an inviting, modern space that would encourage people who might have driven past to stop in and see what we have to offer."
The store also features a "Flavours of the World" section, offering international snacks and beverages.
Mr Wheeler added: "We’re seeing strong initial interest and positive feedback.
"The response has already exceeded our expectations."
The success of this store will determine the potential for future Refuel Market locations.
Mr Wheeler concluded: "This is a trial, but we’re very optimistic."
