A 100-year-old classic car that has been left in a barn for the past four decades is due to go up at auction in Colchester.
The 1921 Talbot-Darracq Tourer and Mercedes Benz were found in the barn in Suffolk, and are expected to be auctioned off on Saturday.
Reeman Dansie Auctioneers and Valuers will be auctioning the two classic cars.
The Talbot-Darracq was purchased from C.J. Bendall Ltd in Hitchin in February 1967 for £750.
The car had its last MOT in 1982 and was then taken off the road and stored in an open but dry barn.
The engine was turned over from time to time to keep it free as it is today.
The 1954 left hand drive Mercedes-Benz 220 Type A was originally bought by the late owner whilst he was serving in the British Army in Germany, with the car travelling with him during his military career.
It also spent time in Cyprus and the Middle East, before making its way home to Suffolk.
A spokesman for the auctioneers said: "We understand from the late owners family that the cars were last running in the 1980’s and have remained preserved in his barn for the last four decades.
"The cars will be sold as part of our specialist classic cars, vehicle and automobilia auction.
"The Mercedes is estimated at £30,000 to £40,000 and the Talbot £6,000 to £8,000."
Elton Murphy runs the Youtube channel UK Barn Finds and was there when the vehicles were removed from the barn.
Describing the Talbot-Darracq, he said: "In the nicest way it looks like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with the big roof.
"There can't be many in the world with a roof in this condition."
