A CARAVAN was left in a "very odd place" blocking a pavement and road.

At about 2am on Tuesday night, a caravan was seen abandoned on Military Road in New Town, Colchester, next to the Wimpole Road junction.

The vehicle, which was parked across the pavement and partially on the road, was spotted by a resident who said it was a “very odd place to leave a caravan”.

The caravan however was gone by morning, and Colchester Council said they had no knowledge of any caravan there.

“Flytipping is a challenge that all councils must address.

"It is a systemic problem rooted in societal shortcomings. To effectively prevent flytipping, councils and the government must co-operate on interventions that address the root causes of flytipping and other forms of crime and anti-social behaviour.”
