AN adult education provider has celebrated an important first milestone after opening a start-of-the-art complex in Colchester.
Adult Community Learning Essex (ACL Essex) and Colchester Council has marked one year since it opened it’s Digital Hub in the Wilson Marriage Centre, in Barrack Street.
After opening in October 2023, the Digital Hub has provided a space for residents and businesses to access technological equipment and ACL Essex has been able to offer more computing-related courses.
Students have been able to learn more about technology and boost their IT skills because of the hub.
Councillor Tony Ball, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education Excellence, Lifelong Learning and Employability said: “Having the Digital Hub at ACL Essex’s Colchester centre has helped boost the number of people they can support with their digital learning.
"It is important to provide opportunities for our local people that help them keep up to date with digital skills.
“New courses that support people to learn about AI, or even how to start their own podcast, are so valuable in today’s technological world.”
Councillor David King, Leader of Colchester Council, has also appreciated the partnership over the last year.
He said: “The Digital Hub at ACL Essex in Colchester has opened doors for our local people.
“I would like to thank and congratulate everyone who has been involved in reaching and celebrating the hubs first birthday.”
