A ‘MEET the artists party’ is taking place at The Minories this Saturday as Colchester Art Society celebrates their exhibition in the gallery which they have been using since 1957.
The Colchester Art Society’s Winter exhibition will take place from November 21 to December 22 at The Minories on the High Street, from Thursday to Sunday from 10 to 4pm - apart from November 24 when the exhibition will be closed.
Further, a ‘Meet the artists party’ will take place on Saturday November 23 from noon until 3pm.
A spokesman for the Colchester Art Society said: “We love being back in our true home at The Minories, and we have exhibited there since 1957.
“We had 283 entries for this exhibition and 189 were selected. We exhibit twice a year, and our previous exhibition was of prints and 3D works at the Sail Loft in NaviStitch in Manningtree.”
The Colchester Art Society was founded in 1946 for the promotion of the visual arts and is now run by a committee of working artists including among others Melvyn King, Jane Lewis, Bryan Whiteley, Debbie Ayles, and Sarah Milne.
The society’s 6th President in its 78-year history is Simon Carter and exciting plans are already being panne for the group’s 80th birthday celebrations in 2026.
