MAGISTRATES have handed a man a restraining order after he assaulted a woman in Colchester.
Christopher Harding, 36, appeared before Colchester Magistrates’ Court earlier this month to be sentenced for the assault in September last year.
The defendant, of Herbert Way, Colchester, admitted the charge three months later.
Magistrates ordered Harding to carry out 30 days of rehabilitation activity, 150 hours of unpaid work, and pay £300.
They also granted a restraining order which will run until May next year to prevent Harding from contacting the victim or attending her address.
Harding was ordered to pay £650 in prosecution costs and a surcharge of £114.
